Don't Think of Sin as a Weakness....

Those who live sinful lives are disobeying God. Sin is disobedience.

1 John 3:4 GW

The following paragraphs contain my unadulterated cogitations from yesterday. It felt like a lightbult went off in my spirit. I feel no push to make the words I wrote more or less than how they came to me. I hope this encourages you to live for Christ. Here it goes.

Sin is not weakness. Haha. Sin is disobedience. Wow!!!!!!!!

I think most of us view sin as a weakness. We view it as something that will happen once a while no matter what we do. Unconsciously, we’ve created rooms in our minds where we let the devil play around in.

“Oh even Paul had a thorn, everyone has a weakness, we say.” Due to this we have unconsciously reduced the severity of sin and it’s implied meaning to the one we claim to love and serve.

So when we do sin, we say grace is available, get back up and get going. Of course, we should do that. But if only just sinning was the problem!

The unconscious mental laxity associated with committing a sin is enough to give room for a next time. “It’s a weakness, oh God understands.”

Oh yes, he does but should you continue to sin so that grace may abound???

Let me humbly remind you…When you sin, it’s not a weakness, it’s not a mistake neither is it the work of the devil. When you sin, accept that you have outrightly decided to disobey God.

Don’t just take my word for it.

It’s not the act that you should be worried about. It’s your reverence, awe and fear of the Lord that should be checked.

You’ve either become too familiar or too far apart from him.

I think it’s why we are admonished to be like children. Children as long as they remain children would always be awed by the same things. For as long as they are children, everyone with candy is a nice person and daddy is a superhero. Doesn’t change.

May we never lose our awe, reverence and fear of the Lord. It’ll be chaotic, to say the least.

Dearest Abba, help us that our gaze be continually fixed on you. Our awe perpetually set on you. May your love within constrain us. May your fear within, keep us standing. Help us love you. Help us revere you. We are your bride.
